Community Driving Transport Options for Sea Lake

28 August 2023

A volunteer service that helps connect Sea Lake residents with the broader region to support their health needs is back up and running.

Mallee Track Health and Community Service oversees the Community Transport service.

As well as providing local and Swan Hill transport, the service extends as far as Bendigo.

The program’s coordinator, Melinda Lynch, said Community Transport was crucial for helping people attend medical appointments beyond Sea Lake.

“Community Transport is supportive of great health care outcomes for the people in our rural communities, who might otherwise struggle to access services and appointments outside the local area,” she said.

“But it is reliant on a volunteer workforce, and we have been greatly supported by a group of wonderful volunteers at Sea Lake, who are now credentialed as Volunteer drivers.”

Access to the Community Transport Service is dependent on volunteer and car availability.

Please make requests with as much notice as possible - at least three days’ notice for local trips and one week in advance for Bendigo trips.

MTHCS volunteers do not drive at night or in unsafe conditions.
